99-year old former NASA ‘Hidden Figure’ mathematician Katherine Johnson is being honored with a doll by Mattel, company maker of Barbie. Her noteworthy story was told and portrayed by Taraji Henson in the award winning “Hidden Figures” movie. Johnson is also one of the pool of women who was hired by NASA while working as a  human “computer” for the first US-manned flight into space. She’s a pioneer in mathematics, amongst the few who broke gender and race barriers against blacks and women. In 2015, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is a symbol of strength and perseverance. Her contributions in years past opened doors for present day girls and women. She’s the epitome of a strong and courageous modern day hidden figure of our time.
